Historical Event on 5/11/1998

Three momentous events took place on the day that did the nation proud. Firstly, three underground nuclear tests at Pokhran Range in Rajasthan, which included a hydrogen bomb, were tested; secondly, the successful test firing of the 'Trishul Missile' and thirdly, the maiden Certification test flight of 'Hansa-3', the first-all Composite indigenous two seater aircraft.

8/16/1886Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa dies at the age of 50. His real name was Gadadhar Ghatterji. An Indian mystic, leader and saint, he preached unity of religions. Swami Vivekanand was his disciple.

4/11/1937Ramnath Krishnan, well known Indian Tennis player, was born.
6/20/1996Govt. of India declares at Geneva conference on 'Global Ban On Nuclear Testing' that it won't sign the CTBT.
7/18/1997Fifth Pay Commission report approved by Central Govt.
