Historical Event on 1/18/1950

India is declared a secular republic. Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru (1947-1964) is determined to abolish casteism and industrialize the nation. Constitution makes Hindi official national language, English to continue for 15 years, 14 major state languages are recognized. India also moved a motion for no war treaty between India and Pakistan to improve the relations with neighboring countries.

4/7/1818British Government imposed 'State Prisoners Regulation III -1818' for detention and deportion of political prisoners and revolutionaries without any trial. This black act was in force till 1947 when India got independence.
