57 prisoners in Indian and Pakistan jails are repatriated to their respective motherlands at the Attari-Wagah joint checkpost on the border in Amristar district.

9/14/199778 persons die and around 250 are injured as four bogies of Ahmedabad-Howrah Express de-rail while crossing a bridge on Hasdeo river near Champa Railway Station in Bilaspur district, Madhya Pradesh.
4/9/1965Fighting breaks out in the Rann of Kutch between Indian and Pakistani troops. Pakistan attacked Indian borders, Sardar Post, Chhar Bet and Beria Bet, this was manned by the State Armed Police Batallions. In Kutch launched its 8th Infantry Division supported by two regiments of M47/48 Pattons. Operation 'Desert Hawk' was launched to draw away reserves from other vulnerable areas, and possibly to test India's resolve. The Indian Army did not rise to the bait.

2/15/1976The Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering (CIAE) was established at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
1/17/1905Dattaraya Ramchandra Kaprekar was born at Dahanu near Bombay. He discovered the shortest possible routes to solve mathematical problems. In 1927, he won the wrangler R. P. Paranjpe Mathematical Prize for an Original Piece of work in mathematics. He discovered 'Kaprekar Constant' in 1946. It is the number ""6174"". The constant 6174 is arrived at and this number then generates itself into one set of numbers called ""self numbers"" that is also known by his name. Kaprekar passed away in 1988.
