Agartala, Aug 30 (IANS) Uproarious scenes prevailed in the Tripura Assembly on Friday, the first day of its three-day session and the opposition CPI-M members staged a walkout twice after the Speaker rejected their adjournment motion and to protest the promulgation of the Essential Services Maintenance Bill, 2019 in the BJP-ruled state.

In another development, ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's junior ally, the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura's six members sat in a separate block adjacent to the treasury members.

During the reference period, the deputy leader of the opposition Communist Party Of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Badal Choudhury moved an adjournment motion to discuss the alleged "deteriorating law and order situation and a rise in crimes in Tripura".

After noisy scenes and heated arguments between the opposition and BJP members, the CPI-M legislators walked out from the House after the speaker Rebati Mohan Das rejected the motion.

In the second half of the session, the CPI-M lawmakers walked out from the House to protest the promulgation of the Essential Services Maintenance Act in Tripura. The Left members earlier urged the BJP government to withdraw the Act.

The Speaker said that a separate block adjacent to the treasury bench has been arranged for six of the eight IPFT members following the tribal-based party's (IPFT) General Secretary Mevar Kumar Jamatia's letter seeking separate block for the party members in the Assembly.

In the 60-member Tripura Assembly the ruling has 36 members and its junior ally has eight legislators while the opposition Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has sixteen members.

The two IPFT ministers -- Narendra Chandra Debbarma (Revenue and Fisheries departments) and Mevar Kumar Jamatia (Tribal Welfare and Forest departments) -- in the eight-member Tripura ministry have, however, sit in the ministers' block.

The IPFT contested the recent Lok Sabha and panchayat elections against the BJP.
