A five-member ULFA group guns down 26 non-Assamese people, mostly Hindi and Bengali-speaking, at Sonpura near Arunachal Pradesh Border in Upper Assam.

2/2/1982Mohanlal Purushottamdas Sukhadia, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, freedom fighter, passed away. He was the Chief Minister of Rajasthan from 1954-1971. He introduced Panchayati Raj in Rajasthan and worked for its industrialisation also.
